Busy Mum, too busy
Washing the clothes
In the olden days
Outside
It was hard work.

When we were going home in the afternoon we had a flat tyre. Luckily Nakeyta's Dad called Elton helped us.
We got McDonalds for dinner. Then we went to the production.
When we were at the production Nadia was so excited that she shouted, "Production!"
I was happy!

Room 5 Garden Update

We noticed a lovely surprise in our garden - one of the tulips has flowered. This is a happy sign that Spring is on its way! We also planted some lettuces that we grew from seed.

Don't we look great? We had so much fun dressing up! Rhianna got the class prize for her original costume, Cinderella BEFORE she went to the ball!

Colour Swirls

I was making colour swirls. We had to have red and blue and yellow and milk. I felt happy because it was lovely.

"Last week we did a colour swirl using the primary colours." We put dark blue milk in the colour swirl. Then we did watch it for a long time. It made a beautiful rainbow.

On Friday we did a colour swirl. It looked cool. We put the primary colours in. It was fun and it made different colours.

We used blue top milk in a bowl and put food colouring at the edges of the bowl. Then we poured detergent into the middle of the bowl. The detergent chased the fat in the milk around the bowl, which stirred up the mixture and mixed up the colours! Some of us went home and tried it as well!

Yesterday was the 100 Day Party. Yeah, the 100 Day Party! Isn't that cool? The part I liked best was the people you can make for decorations. The second thing I liked best was the glasses. You can colour it in all of the colours you want, then wear it.

I did the centipede first. I had to put 5 legs on the centipede and then I made the 100 glasses and I coloured them in.

On Saturday we are going to Princess Wishes in Auckland. Then we are going to the Sky Tower to have lunch.
Next, we are going to the beach to have a walk, and then we are going to the Sky Tower to see the lights at night. Then we go home. I can’t wait.

On the weekend I went to soccer. Then we ran to Sam to get our tops to wear on the field. It is white.
Then we played soccer. I was the goalie and I picked up the ball with the blue gloves and kicked the ball over my soccer team, then fell over.
I felt happy. We lost our game but we had lots of fun.

On Saturday we played the Sharks. We drew our game. Our team, the Dolphins, got the first goal. There was a boy who pushed three people on our team. Then we went home to watch a home movie with me in it.

I went to Princess Wishes and I liked Tinkerbell and I liked Snow White and Cinderella in the horse float. Then they danced on their skates.
At the end they let the Guy Fawkes off. It was marvellous and it was noisy.

Space Mission!

Today in Room 5, we blasted off into space to repair the Hubble Telescope! We made space helmets and we all had different jobs to do. After manoeuvring past asteroids and space junk, the mechanics fixed the telescope. We ate 'space food' (instant pudding)out of small plastic bags. Then our pilot (Izaea) and co-pilot (Callum) steered us safely back to Earth. Hooray!

I am so glad that you enjoyed your space trip and got safely back to earth, all the way back to Tomarata. Thank you for repairing the Hubble Telescope.

Our purple carrots are growing well. This month we planted some tulips to make the garden pretty. We also tried planting potatoes in a bucket. Let's see if they grow!

We saw the customs dogs at school!

We were very lucky on Thursday to have a visit from the customs people who use dogs to sniff out bags at the airport that are contaminated with drugs. We got to see how clever the dogs are at sniffing the correct bag.
When the dogs have their harness on, they know it's time for work and we're not allowed to come up and pat them.

The bad news is that the caterpillars destroyed the broccoli.
The good news is... our lettuces and carrots are doing very well!
Today we thinned the carrots to give them room to grow.
On Friday, the first of May, we're going to plant some garlic.

I went to the athletics. I played Tug of War and I played discus but first we hopped off the bus and I played a running race. It was fun.

Can you see the windmills we made to keep the birds off?
Unfortunately we have noticed cabbage moth eggs on the broccoli, so we don't think the garlic spray and coffee worked.
Mrs Duffin suggested we try sprinkling flour on the leaves. Thanks Mrs Duffin, we'll try it!
Mrs Wall said that the trick with coffee is that you use old coffee grounds to keep the slugs and snails off. So she gave us some coffee grounds and we have put it round the garden. Thanks Mrs Wall!
And ... good news, the carrot seeds are up!

On the 10th of March we planted our garden:

a blueberry plant
lettuce plants
broccoli plants
purple carrot seeds

We were worried about white butterflies and birds damaging the plants so we are trying to protect them by:

spraying the plants with garlic spray
sprinkling coffee powder on the leaves
making windmills to scare away the pests!

On March 6 we had a Green Day! We dressed up in green clothes and Mrs Rosewarne made us green jelly and cupcakes, yum! Can you see Anthony (aka The Incredible Hunk) in the photo?
